Planned Parenthood Awaits Decision from SD District Court

Remains Committed to Preserving the Doctor-Patient Relationship

Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota today sought clarification from the South Dakota District Court in the remainder of the claims in the case of PPMNS v Rounds.
The core of the current dispute with the state of South Dakota is about the implementation of the decision the 8th Circuit Court. The District Court has not yet issued a final decision.
"Planned Parenthood is asking the South Dakota District Court to protect and preserve the doctor-patient relationship for all women and families in South Dakota," said PPMNS President and CEO Sarah Stoesz.
"We have always worked hard to ensure that every woman has the best, medically accurate information so that she can make the right decision for her unique circumstances," Stoesz said.
"Planned Parenthood is committed to true informed consent. We want patients to fully participate in decisions about their health care. That requires that doctors have the ability to provide accurate and unbiased medical information to patients without the interference of government and politicians," said Stoesz.
Planned Parenthood will continue to protecting the doctor/patient relationship while fully complying with all federal, state and local laws.
"We greatly appreciate the judge's thoughtful questions and look forward to her ruling," Stoesz said.
