Planned Parenthood Hosting Women’s Health Matters Community Forum – Offering Grassroots Ideas for Obama Transition

(St. Paul) — Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS) is answering the Obama-Biden Transition Team’s call to host a Health Care Community Discussion to highlight the importance of women’s health.

As one of the region’s most trusted reproductive health care providers and advocates, Planned Parenthood is engaging supporters and actively taking part in a grassroots effort to reform our nation’s health care system.

The event will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, December 30th, from 4-6PM at the Minneapolis Planned Parenthood Clinic, located at 1200 Lagoon Avenue, Minneapolis, MN.

Representative Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Speaker of the House, Senator John Marty, Chair of the Senate Health, Housing and Family Security committee, Representative Frank Hornstein and PPMNS President and CEO Sarah Stoesz will join members of the community for a discussion on health care reform.

“This is an incredible opportunity to engage our supporters and work with the incoming administration to make sure women’s reproductive health is an essential part of discussion about health care reform,” said PPMNS President and CEO Sarah Stoesz.  “Because of our frontline experience caring for women and families for the past 80 years, Planned Parenthood has a unique role in helping guide the priorities of health care reform,” Stoesz said.

The Obama-Biden Transition Team has announced an unprecedented effort to kick off their health care reform work- asking Americans to come together in living rooms across America to talk about their health care needs and ideas. After the discussion, participants submit their feedback and ideas online at http://change.gov/reportback.

Planned Parenthood believes that all of us benefit from healthy communities and healthy families, in which every person has access to high-quality, affordable, and confidential health care from a provider of choice. Ensuring such access is a critical step in eliminating the health care disparities experienced by so many in this country.  We support a health care system that prioritizes prevention and ensures that all individuals have the information and services they need to stay healthy and safe.
