PPMNS Action Fund Endorses Al Franken For United States Senate

(St. Paul) Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund (PPMNSAF) and the national Planned Parenthood Action Fund have endorsed of Al Franken for United States Senate.

“The PPMNS Action Fund board engaged in a thoughtful and thorough screening process for endorsement in the U.S. Senate race.  We believe Al Franken is the U.S. Senate candidate that Minnesota women and families can count on to protect and strengthen their health and rights.  We know that Al Franken will stand with Minnesotans on reproductive health and on affordable and quality health care for all,”  announced Sarah Stoesz, President of the PPMNS Action Fund.

PPMNSAF represents women and families in Minnesota who are committed to putting a leader in the U.S. Senate that will support quality, affordable health care for women. PPMNSAF believes that leader is Al Franken.

“This election will be critical to women and families and we look forward to the opportunity to replace the status quo with a U.S. Senator from Minnesota that is clear in his commitment to the health and safety of women,” said Sarah Stoesz.

“Along with the endorsement of Al Franken, the Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund will be educating voters in Minnesota about Senator Norm Coleman’s atrocious record on issues of importance to women, especially health care and their right to privacy,” said Tim Stanley, PPMNS Action Fund Executive Director.

“Coleman’s voting record and position on women’s health  is dangerously out of touch with the majority of Minnesota voters. PPMNS Action Fund will make sure that voters in the state know exactly what Coleman’s record is,” said Stanley.
The PPMNS Action Fund Board has also endorsed Steve Sarvi  (CD2) and Ashwin Madia (CD3). They join a strong roster of pro-choice candidates that includes Democratic Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama.

A great decision by Planned Parenthood.  Franken is a strong pro-choice candidate and a committed feminist.  We need 60 pro-choice senators to defend women’s constitutional right to reproductive freedom.
