Press Release 2.13.08 PPMNS celebrates National Condom Week
St Paul, MN- Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS) celebrates National Condom Week beginning on Valentine's Day (February 14). National Condom week is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the benefits of condoms for sexually active people.
"Latex condoms offer the best protection against sexually transmitted infections for sexually active people and are an effective, inexpensive over-the-counter method of birth control," said President and CEO Sarah Stoesz.
In 2006, PPMNS distributed more than 219,000 condoms across our region. "Keeping women and men healthy and helping them to avoid unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections is our mission. PPMNS is committed to strengthening the health and well-being of women and men in the communities we serve," Stoesz said.
Latex condoms help
- -reduce the risk of pregnancy. Condoms are an effective, inexpensive over-the-counter form of birth control.
- -reduce the risk of HIV transmission. The condom is a highly effective barrier against HIV infection.
- -reduce the risk of other sexually transmitted infections. Condoms significantly reduce the risk of getting or passing many other sexually transmitted infections.
