Hey Everyone,
Just heads up…Yesterday was the opening of the South Dakota Legislature. Which potentially means the opening of a whole new can of worms (well maybe not a “new can of worms”—more liked “recycled” )….if you guessed an abortion ban, then you guessed right!
There’s already been more than murmurings about even more restrictions to abortions in SD even though SD has one of the lowest rates of abortion in the country and some of the most restrictive abortion laws on the books. So if you want to help stop more abortion laws from passing, South Dakotans should sign our petition to tell the legislature that you’ve had enough
South Dakotans: want to tell Legislators that “You’ve had enough” to their face? Well Women 4 Women day is the perfect opportunity for you! Register for the this FREE event, sponsored by the South Dakota Advocacy Network for Women, and you’ll get to meet with legislators and talk to them about issues related to Reproductive Rights, Violence against Women, Equal Opportunity, and Education. Plus you’ll attend a FREE luncheon with guest speaker, all while wearing your sweet new threads (read: FREE T-shirt). The event is January 31st, so sign up and let those legislators have it!
This year the South Dakota Legislative session runs for 35 days, and a lot can happen in those 35 days, so through stay tuned to our blog, Planned Parenthood Advocate for all the latest doings in the South Dakota Legislature. You’ll also stay up-to-date on what’s happening with other reproductive rights issues. You can make this easy for yourself by subscribing to our blog. All the cool kids are doing it.
Get involved so the SD Legislature hears that what the people want is fewer unintended pregnancies not more abortion laws. Real common-sense solutions are the answer!
