The Candidates and Comp Sex Ed
Women's E-News has a great summary of all the presidential candidates' stances on one of our favorite topics here on this ol' blog of ours—Comp Sex Ed. The article indicates that Republicans largely support abstinence-only programs, while Democrats largely support "abstinence-plus" (aka comp sex ed). However, Ann @ feministing points out that Democrats have recently been voting for increases in abstinence-only education. She explains that this is because these types of increases are getting bundled in with bills that contain a majority of other elements that Democrats largely support. (Pretty sneaky, eh?)
Anyway, definitely check out the article. Also check out see the video below. It features the Democrats talking about their stance on comp sex ed at the YouTube Debates.
You can see the politicians are a bit squeamish about talking about this question in general. Kind of absurd considering that here in Minnesota, the majority of people support comprehensive sex ed in the schools. Hey politicians, if you don't believe me…read em and weep.
Seriously though, Comprehensive Sex Ed isn't controversial. It's common sense. And, I support common sense!

Thanks to feministing for the heads up!
