This is EXTREMELY exciting news….

MINNESOTA STATE CANVASSING BOARD CERTIFIES RESULTS, OFFICIALLY DECLARING AL FRANKEN THE WINNER OF THE SENATE RACE AGAINST NORM COLEMAN.

Just this afternoon, the board certified that the Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund Endorsed candidate, Al Franken, won the race by a slim margin of 225 votes.  This is tremendous news for Minnesotans and those who care about women’s rights and health. The defeat of the extremely anti-choice Norm Coleman means a big step forward for the advancement of women’s health and rights!

To have a progressive pro-choicer regain the seat once held by Paul Wellstone is a huge step forward.  Congratulations to Al Franken!!

Unfortunately, the Coleman campaign has all but promised to file a lawsuit and contest the election. After following the recount proceedings and previous decisions by the Minnesota Supreme Court during this process, I believe that the final count is extremely precise and accurately reflects the voice of the Minnesota people. I am hopeful that the courts will let that voice be heard.
