You may recall that yesterday was the opening of the Minnesota 2008 Legislature. You may also recall that yesterday, we also shared one of our major goals for the 2008 Legislative Session, passing a Comprehensive Sex Ed Bill. (If you don't remember, here's a link). The bill would be designed to set a standards of principles that must be included in a sex ed class-for example, contraception, abstinence, healthy relationships etc. The beauty of the bill is that while it requires schools to include these types of principles, it also allows local control to tailor those standards in a way that best suits there community needs.
Enough about that though, let's move on to a second major legislative goal: Reducing STIs in Minnesota through increased funding for testing, eliminating rates of re-infection between sexual partners, and increased education.
Get more detail in the video below.
Tomorrow we'll be sharing a final legislative goal for 2008, so be sure to check back tomorrow for that info. Better yet, subscribe to our blog or podcast in itunes!
