Putting Prevention First

Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS) works everyday to put prevention first, improving access to preventive health care and supporting healthy families. Planned Parenthood; committed to reducing the number of unintended pregnancies by getting to the root of the problem through prevention: ensuring reliable sexual and reproductive health education in schools and communities, increasing access to family planning services and empowering women to plan parenthood, healthy pregnancies and healthy families.

Health Care for All

Each year, nearly 60,000 people turn to 27 Planned Parenthood clinics across three states for essential health care -  health care provided regardless of income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin or residence. Planned Parenthood offers high-quality health care, including birth control and family planning, gynecological care, STI/STD testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, and abortion services. In 2006 PPMNS provided more than 117,000 family planning visits in our clinics and provided caring and honest information about safe and effective birth control methods. More than fifty percent of PPMNS patients have incomes below or near the federal poverty level.

Around the World

Planned Parenthood works around the world to increase access to sexual and reproductive health information and services.  We provide health care and education through local partners and advocate for sound U.S. foreign policies that affect sexual and reproductive health and rights globally.  Our innovative international programs build partnerships within and across regions to share ideas, expertise, and experiences in linking health services and education with advocacy.
